Board Direction, on behalf of Grow is seeking to appoint 2 new NEDs with either finance/accounting or health systems research and evaluation experience.
Operating for almost 70 years GROW Australia has been providing peer support based on lived experience for people looking for support with their mental health. By taking a non-clinical approach they have aided tens of thousands peoples’ recovery.
Grow operates Australia wide and has over 50 staff who are supported by a national office based in Brisbane. They are a company limited by guarantee, registered as a charity with the ACNC and are funded by state and territory governments.
They deliver their services through a number of programs including: group based, school based, peer support, residential rehabilitation, and Growing Resilience programs.

Person Specification
The successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate their success against the following criteria:
- Governance: Prior governance experience is desirable but not essential, though, having been a Non-Executive Director (NED) before is not a prerequisite
- Skills and Experience:
- Finance/Accounting experience (ideally a qualified accountant), OR
- Health Systems Research and Evaluation (as evidenced through an academic background and/or in mental health).
- Networks and connections: With government, business or the health services sectors. (Ideally, with high-level contacts and influential people within government and/or relevant community and industry bodies)
- Passion: Evidence of being passionate about mental health and wellbeing.
- Diversity: Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply as at least one of the appointed candidates must be female.
- Additional Information: Please note: The successful Accounting/Finance candidate will likely, in the future, Chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. The successful Health Systems Research candidate with join the Futures Advisory Committee. (Evidence of your experience or ability to contribute in this capacity would be valuable.)
Location & Remuneration & Timings
Board Meetings: six times a year. 1 x in person in Brisbane (including the AGM and Strategy day), with the remaining meetings held via Zoom.
Candidate Location: Ideally NSW, VIC or ACT – although all Australian-based candidates will be considered.
Remuneration: This is a (modestly) remunerated role – reflecting how serious Grow take board governance.
