Cain Beckett
Non-Exec Director
Cain is a professional non-executive director, former Deloitte Technology Risk Partner and senior public servant. His career spans 30 years of complex strategy, policy and tech projects executed successfully across Australia, the US and Europe.
He has been a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors for more than 15 years with board roles for Life Without Barriers, The Summer Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Alliance, and as Chair of the NSW Disability Council amongst others.
Career highlights include, transforming the strategic policy office within the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, to create an agile team of ninja’s that were deployed on critical projects for the Cabinet. The office played an integral role during the pandemic and Cain (as far he knows), is the first person with cerebral palsy to be regularly in the room for Cabinet.
As the inaugural head of Markets and Pricing for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Cain established the NDIS approaches for market regulation, safeguards and pricing. On the recommendation of the Prime Minister’s Office, he also helped establish the Royal Commission into Violence Abuse Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability as Special Advisor and head of Strategy for the Commission.
Prior to his career as a public servant he led the operations team for Perpetual Corporate Trust (ASX: PPT) through the global financial crisis. Cain oversaw the risk and payments processes for more than $270 billion in assets and re-designed the industry approach for mitigating corporate failure risk in structured finance transactions now recommended by ASIC.
He is a tech whiz and at just 24, he led coaching in client engagement, ICT systems design and testing for all of Accenture’s business analysts, at the world’s largest professional training campus in Chicago, USA.
Among other roles Cain has led or created a project rescue firm, an adventure experiences charity, a global fundraising movement, a media company and a global medical research foundation. For the later he received the 2020 Academy of Medicine Outstanding Achievement Award for Services to people with Disability.
Cain is also a former, Australian para-archery national champion. He is managed by his amazing wife Dr Sara Beckett and their two daughters Eleanor and Alexis.
