Amanda Cornwall
Non Executive Director
I am an independent non-executive director with a strong background as a lawyer, as a senior manager in government and a leading community and consumer advocate. I have over 2 decades of experience as a member of government and not-for-profit boards.
My career spans non-executive and executive roles in health, environment, financial services, land use planning, climate change, water, justice and the arts.
I have a reputation for leading effective stakeholder engagement on contentious and complex issues and providing robust policy and governance advice. The common thread is helping organisations make better decisions by listening to the people their decisions affect.
At board level I lead conversations about strategic priorities and developments in the external environment, I advise on compliance and risk and provide oversight of the CEO. I’m currently on the board Merri-bek Affordable Housing and I recently retired from the boards of Greenfleet Australia and Circus Nexus.
I’ve held senior management roles in the Victorian and NSW governments and served on a government tribunal. In my early career I practised as a finance solicitor at Mallesons Stephen Jaques and was principal solicitor at Consumer Law Centre.
These days I’m a Senior Facilitator at EthosCRS where I deliver professional development to government agencies on strategic thinking, integrity, business writing and use of AI. Previously, as a governance consultant, I advised boards of leading not-for-profits on long-term strategic planning, board performance and program effectiveness.
I hold a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Administrative Law and Policy. I am a Churchill Fellow, a Graduate of the AICD and hold an AI Governance Professional Certificate.
