I am an experienced non-executive director, Chair, CIO and corporate executive, with over twenty years of international executive and board level experience across the public, commercial & not for profit sectors with particular experience in technology, legal, corporate governance, compliance and risk management, digital transformation and change management across the education, tourism, insurance, financial services, media & publishing, food & beverage, business services & consulting, and the data and digitisation industries. At board level, highlights include: President and Chair of the Board of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) where I led the organisation through strategic business transformation focusing on new innovation; Board roles with tech start-ups including River City Labs and Start Up Catalyst, Member of the Australian Government IT Industry Innovation Council, as the Chair of the NSW Government ICT Advisory Panel and as a Member of the NSW Government Digital Transformation Taskforce.
In an executive capacity I am the Managing Director of AGW Lawyers & Consultants, a multidisciplinary legal and advisory practice advising in many areas of law and technology, digital disruption and transformation, and the emergent and disruptive risks and issues arising from 4.0 Industrial technologies including the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Cloud and Blockchain. Earlier, I was the CIO for the Australian Tourist Commission, during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, leading the provision of IT services both locally and internationally.
I have double degrees in Computer Science and Law from Monash, a Master of Intellectual Property from UTS and a Master of Laws in Media, Communications and IT from UNSW. I am a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, International Assoc of Privacy Professionals and the Law Society of New South Wales, the founding President of the NZ Society for Computers and the Law, an Honorary Life Member and Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
