Ian Layzell

Director, Defence & NS

I am a Board Member and Director with almost a decade of executive and board-level experience across the public and commercial sectors with particular experience within the defence and government environment. In an Executive capacity I am the Director of Defence and National Security with Aurecon where I am leading the strategy development and formulation for market entry into the defence and national security markets. Prior to this I was a Director with AGIS | Downer, where I was the Account Manager for several Defence Groups, including the Chief Information Officer Group, focussing on business development and client relationship management. Previously I was a Consultant with the Department of Human Services working closely with the Chief Technology Officer to establish a new office to manage requirements for ICT projects across the Department. I also have over twenty years of experience within the Department and Federal Government in various roles managing ICT and engineering projects including managing multimillion-dollar budgets. I also have experience acting as a Departmental Liaison Officer working closely with the Minister for Defence and the Minister for Defence Science and Materiel. Finally, I have a Master of Business Administration, a Masters of Engineering Science, Bachelor of Engineering and a Diploma of Project Management.
