Non Executive Director
I am a Non-Executive and Chair and have been operating on and with boards of listed and private resources and commodity companies such as Rio Tinto, Turquoise Hill, South Gobi and Ferrexpo as a Director, CEO and in multiple C-Suite roles for over 15 years. I have particular expertise in the mining & metals and trading industries and deep knowledge of China.
At board level what I do is grow businesses. I do that leveraging global experience driving cross border M&A, Joint Ventures, funds raising, offtake agreements, strategic acquisitions and successful exits in addition to providing deep insight into not only how the Chinese market operates but also the strategies required to unlock new business opportunities and develop valuable relationships.
Board level highlights include: Non Executive Chairman of Graphite X and Hong Kong Energy and Minerals United Associations and Non Executive Director of Meili Technologies; I also represented the interests of Rio Tinto as a Non Executive Director of globalORE and Beijing Iron Ore Trading Center and as a Director of BaoHi and Channar Joint Ventures; represented the interests of Turquoise Hill Resources as a Non Executive Director of SouthGobi Resources and Altamanys Gold; and was a member of the Founders Board of the Green Recycling Initiative.
In an executive capacity I am currently responsible for the global sales and marketing, shipping and logistics business at Ferrexpo PLC, a £2.7 billion London listed business. Previously I was accountable for the US$20 billion turnover Iron Ore Sales business for Rio Tinto and held leadership accountability for many multibillion-dollar turnover businesses and transactions within multiple listed businesses and in Private Equity. I was earlier the Chief Commercial Officer at SouthGobi Resources, where I delivered up to US$20 per tonne of incremental margin and raised US$45 million in new funding.
Finally, I have a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics & Commercial Law and completed the GE Leadership Development Programme and Fuqua School of Business’s Leadership Programme.
