THE BOARD APPOINTMENT SESSSIONS
WELCOME. I am looking forward to starting our private Board Appointment Sessions together.
The following outlines what to expect over our next 40 days and how to access all the services and sessions you are entitled to as part of the package.
We will be working very closely together to help you reach your board appointment goals. As such, this program is fairly intensive. and requires a commitment from us both -to attend all scheduled sessions and to complete all tasks following our sessions together.

Session 1 - Your Board CV & Set Up (1 hr)
During the first 10 days (from the date you submit your CV):
In the first instance, you will receive calendar invitations for four separate private sessions with David – check your inbox.
Then…
- Submit your current board or executive CV for rewriting here (PASSWORD – BASESSIONS): https://boarddirection.com.au/info/submit-my-cv-session-package/
- We will draft and return to you a new NED CV;
- Together with David, we will finalise your NED CV and your LinkedIn Profile.
- You will receive a Career Planning Preparation Document, which you will need to complete and return prior to your private Board Career Planning session with David.
- Add david@boarddirection.com.au and contact@boarddirection.com.au to your contacts list to ensure that you do not miss any emails
Session 2 - Board Career Planning (2.5 hrs)
Within the next 10 days (dependent upon returning your Planning Document):
- accept the calendar invitation for your 1:1 Career Planning Session
- return your Board Career Preparation Document to david@boarddirection.com.au 24hrs prior to your scheduled session
- we will complete your bespoke 1:1 Career Planning Session with David
- your will leave with a defined long list of Target Organisations,
- review the long list of targets and refine them down to a list of 12
- return to us within 7 days this list of 12 targets
- we will then begin researching for you a list of ~250 NED connections for you to develop relationships with.
Session 3 - NED Connections (1 hr)
The following 10 days (from the date you return your list of 12 targets):
- you will receive from us a bespoke list of ~250 NED connections linked to your 12 target organisations including their contact details
- you will receive a clear plan and the templates, language and approach to use to Connect with these ‘weak ties’ – authentically and legitimately.
- a clear plan will be set out for you along with what accountability looks like
- you will begin to connect with these ‘weak ties’ and begin unlocking the 80% of board roles that are never advertised or use any formal application processes.
The final Session of the program with David will:
- focus on reviewing your actions. In particular, the connection requests sent, and the responses to these connections
- how to leverage these connections into a board appointment
- address any roadblocks that you may have experienced during the past 30+ days, and finally
- step you through what to do next and capitalise on your success.
