Practice & Purpose Workshop:
Your Path to a For-Purpose Board Appointment

Friday, 30 April – 9am – 6:30pm
Chartered Accountants, 33 Erskine Street, Sydney

Considering becoming a Non-Executive Director (NED) in the for-purpose space? Not sure where to start? Want to learn more and take the first step on your path to a purposeful board position? The Practice & Purpose Workshop is designed for you.

This one day, in-person event in Sydney is designed to help participants, regardless of their skills or level of experience, find and gain a for purpose or Not for Profit (NfP) board appointment.

A Desire to Contribute is Not Enough

A board appointment today, more than ever, should be part of your career plan. For-purpose board appointments offer the opportunity for you to: develop your governance experience, evidence your strategic skills, grow your professional networks and are a valuable way to contribute to industries or causes that you are passionate about.

The good news is that there are almost 60,000 for-purpose organisations in Australia, 35% of which have established boards and on average 50% of these appoint new directors every year. So there are literally thousands of opportunities available that you might like.

However, just having the desire to contribute does not guarantee a board appointment.

Gaining a board appointment is an aspiration for many with relatively few opportunities being publicly available, as a result, the appointment process is highly competitive and for many, unclear.

The question is not ‘Should a board role be part of your career plan?’ or ‘Are there opportunities available?’ – you should and there are. Rather ‘How do you find these opportunities?’, ‘How do you determine the right one for you?’ and ‘How do you get appointed?’ are the questions that you need answers for. The Practice & Purpose Workshop answers these questions and provides an actionable pathway to put into practice what you learn.

The Practice & Purpose Workshop

What to Expect

Join Board Direction and People for Purpose to find out why a for-purpose, or not-for-profit (NFP), board role might be right for you and how you can turn your board aspirations into reality.
