Help Enterprises is seeking to appoint up to four(4) Non Executive Directors.

Help Enterprises is a leading South East Queensland based Social Enterprise with a sustainable balance of Social and Commercial activity consistent with our Purpose of ‘enhancing the lifestyle and independence of people with disability’.

Operating from 40 sites in the Brisbane, Ipswich, Gold Coast, North and Outer North Brisbane areas and employing a fully integrated workforce of over 600 people in a variety of industries we provide a wide range of services, locations, training courses and employment possibilities for people with disabilities. Turnover (gross revenue) – $40million for FY17.

Specifically the products and services provided include: Employment Services (jobactive and DES (Disability Employment Services)), Skills Training Centre (registered RTO), Disability Support Services including Post School Services, Manufacturing (aluminium fabricated products including mailboxes, bin enclosures, screens & awnings, storage systems), and supply chain services (warehouse packaging, assembly and 3PL).

Person Specification

Help Enterprises seeks to appoint up to four Non Executive Directors who can demonstrate:

  1. Prior Governance Experience
  2. Specific experience in one of the following
    1. Finance; audit and risk;
    2. Manufacturing and/or Logistics (supply chain services);
    3. Employment services (plus Training as an extra but not mandatory); and
    4. Disability Support Services, with an emphasis on the NDIS.
  3. A demonstrable understanding of the sector
  4. A genuine passion to contribute to the growth and sustainability of the business

Location: Board members can reside anywhere but will need to attend Brisbane meetings (travel expenses may be paid for interstate candidates).

Remuneration: These positions are unremunerated – though all reasonable expenses will be paid. HOWEVER, as part of the recruitment process we hope to identify potential Chairs – these roles are paid. Further details of these roles, and your willingness to be considered, will be discussed with as part of the interview process – there is no obligation for any candidate to register an interest in a Chair appointment.

Appointment Process: The board is currently made up of 8 directors. For good governance reasons Help Enterprises intends to stagger new appointments and are therefore likely to appoint a two new Non Executive Directors immediately and a further two in the near future.
